What do you enjoy most about teaching at Het Gymlokaal?

What I love most about teaching at Het Gymlokaal is the atmosphere, the authentic environment in which classes take place, and the members who come to train. Together they make it something really special.

What is your sports background?

They say experience is the best teacher — and that’s certainly true for me. After working at Het Gymlokaal for 3.5 years and attending countless classes and lectures from fellow trainers, it was time for me to develop myself as a trainer. My sports background is in football, but in recent years I’ve focused mainly on functional training and skill training. I’ve done a lot of self-study on the human body and how to train it. I studied the book Overcoming Gravity intensively and still apply that knowledge heavily in my own training and classes. Under the guidance of head trainer Sebastiaan, I recently developed into a crosstraining trainer.

What is unique about your classes and the way you teach?

The enthusiastic way I deliver things, combined with a seriously tough workout, is what makes my teaching style unique — people leave exhausted but in high spirits.

What is your speciality within the field of movement?

My speciality in the gym lies mainly in bodyweight training, also inspired by calisthenics.

What qualities should every good trainer have?

Training should be delivered in a responsible, adaptive and enthusiastic way.

What can people expect from you as a trainer and from your classes?

A tough workout focused on a great combination of strength and conditioning.

What can you offer or teach people?

Motivation and a love of training and movement.
