What do you enjoy about teaching at Het Gymlokaal?
Het Gymlokaal is a place where everyone is welcome, regardless of their background. It is great to see how people grow here, have fun and can be themselves. It is an environment where everyone is seen and can flourish.
What is your background?
I obtained my certifications at NL Actief as Fitness Trainer A & B. Before my career as a trainer I studied at the Theatre School, completed the Dance Academy and then retrained as a trainer.
What is unique about your classes and way of teaching?
I am focused on making a real connection with people. Personal attention is central to my classes, with a focus on technique, posture and challenging participants. My philosophy is simple: when you leave my training session, I want you to have learned something about your technique and posture, to leave satisfied or even happier than when you arrived, and to feel that you have pushed yourself just a little bit more.
What is your specialty within the field of movement?
My specialty lies in movement analysis and specifically looking at people’s goals and areas for improvement. I specialise in functional training, strength building, mobility and post-injury training. Thanks to my background as a dancer I can give vivid examples that make technique and corrections easier to understand and execute.
What quality should every good trainer possess?
A good trainer must be engaged and warm, have an eye for detail and be able to offer a personal perspective.
What can people expect from you as a trainer and from your classes?
I am an energetic trainer who loves making a personal connection through sport, crosstraining or fitness. People can expect me to go deep into technique and posture, to spar together, and that I am always ready for a joke. At the same time, I also love a challenging “killer workout” to round off the training session. My classes are accessible, motivating and focused on having a great time together.
What can you offer or teach people?
What I most want to convey is that the body you have is beautiful and good as it is. It changes, and that process can be fun! There is no right or wrong, strong or weak — it is about enjoying the journey. My motto is: fulfilment over achievements. I want to inspire people to love themselves, to achieve small goals and to get better at what they want to accomplish, step by step.
