What do you like most about teaching at Het Gymlokaal?
I’ve been teaching at Het Gymlokaal since its beginning. The nice locations and the atmosphere with the members and the team are the reason I love to teach there.
What is your background?
My whole life I’ve been active in doing sports; from karate to playing football at an elite level. I was doing fitness training myself for many years and slowly started to inspire and help other people out. I decided to take it to the next level and got educated as a fitness instructor (Fitvak A). Next to that, I am a pro fighter in kickboxing (A Level) and in MMA. I’ve been doing this for over 10 years now and I’m happy to say I turned by hobby in to a job!
What is unique about your lessons / way of teaching?
I’m still active as a pro fighter and I learn new things on a daily basis. By learning new things, I get inspired to teach others as well hence the comntinuous evolving content ofmy classes. The basics in (kick)boxing are super important, but I love to teach more advanced skills and combinations as well. My classes can be challenging but I always add a touch of fun! You may laugh at times in my classes, but I make sure that you leave the gym satisfied and exhausted.
What is your specialty within the world of human movement?
Strength and endurance training is something I like to teach, but I mainly focus on (kick)boxing at the moment. I teach techniques but also focus on the different skills that make you a good fighter; a combination of strength, speed, timing, mobility etc… Sometimes I isolate those aspects in my training sessions.
What qualities should every good trainer have?
A good trainer needs to be positive and needs be able to motivate his students in order for them to get the most out of themselves. A good trainer has empathy, he needs to be sensitive and understandhis students’ goals.
What can people expect from you as a trainer and your classes?
I love humor and have fun in my classes, but don’t be fooled, my classes are challenging; you will be pushed to find your limit. My mission is to make you sweat and at the same time enrich you with new knowledge.
What can you offer/ teach people?
Sports is for everyone. You will find yourself growing in everything you invest time and energy. Do you want to get fit, lose weight or improve your kickboxing skills? I’m your man! Don’t be afraid to get out of your comfort zone and look for your boundaries. You can always do more than you can. I hope to see you soon!
