What do you like most about teaching at Het Gymlokaal?
I love the enthusiasm, professionalism and the good atmosphere. A good combination you rarely see.
What is your education in the field that you are teaching?
I did a 200 hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training at Tula Yogastudios under the guidance of Hellen van de Harten. Also, I learned lots from yoga teacher Lara Zilibowitz.
What is unique about your classes/ style of teaching?
Inviting the students to make the practice their own practice. I guide students but can’t physically feel what they feel. So, I teach them how to connect with their bodies and how to adjust the body in postures when needed.
What is your specialty within the world of human movement?
I spend a lot of time on awareness of movement and postures. How does this posture feel and how is my body build? Also, I try to find balance between the feeling of challenge and the ability to surrender.
What qualities should every good trainer have?
I think a good trainer adjusts a class to different needs and finds solutions in case of injuries. I also belief an openminded attitude is important and ‘feeling’ the group is essential.
What can people expect from you as a trainer and your classes?
I teach from the principal ‘Slowdown, feel and soften’. I create an atmosphere of piece and quietness, so it becomes easy to slow down and to relax. I help the students to connect with their senses and invite them to soften up and let go. In other words, a very relaxed class where the body and its senses are centralized.
What can you offer/ teach people?
I help people to (re)connect with the body and the feeling of it, physically and emotionally. This is truly valuable in guarding your boundaries, helps in preventing injuries and will give the ability to truly relax.
